Three key terms connecting to disney

Three key terms:
Global media conglomerate – Disney is the second biggest media conglomerate in the world according to http://uk.businessinsider.com/the-30-biggest-media-owners-in-the-world-2016-5/#3-comcast--1972-billion-in-media-revenue-28

Vertical integration - Vertical integration is when Disney has to produce, market, distribute, and create merchandise for their product. An example of this can be seen thanks to the High School Musical series. Disney produced it in their studios, marketed it on Disney Channel and ABC News by interviewing the cast. Their merchandise included, apparel, purses, make-up, and later, a theatrical version of High School Musical. Synergy can include the Lion King film series. It had have three sequels, a hit Broadway play, the soundtrack for the play and the first film was available but they both also had shirts, cups, and other souvenirs. http://disneycompanyprofile.weebly.com/studio-entertainment.html

Horizontal integration - A great example of a horizontal integration is Disney's acquisition of Pixar Studios. Disney, facing market saturation with its current operations, was looking for ways to expand and increase profits. Disney had started out as an animation studio that targeted families and children. Pixar Studios also operated in the same space as Disney, but it had more cutting-edge technology when it came to digitally animated movies. To grow its market share, strengthen its product line, reduce its competition and access new markets, Disney acquired Pixar Studios.
